Impresionante instalación New Art de Note Design Studio

La nueva línea de metro que une el centro de Estocolmo con el municipio vecino de Nacka ofrece a esta dinámica ciudad algo más que una infraestructura adicional. Para ponerlo de relieve, el gobierno municipal ha querido que un proyecto de tan alto nivel cuente con instalaciones de arte público. Note Design Studio, empresa multidisciplinar con sede en Estocolmo, cuyos diseñadores fueron los artífices de la delicada colección Musa para Vibia, ha sido uno de los tres equipos creativos colaboradores.

Su pieza, titulada Waiting Windows, ha supuesto una novedad para la empresa. “Esta es la primera vez que se pide a Note que conciba una obra de arte para un lugar en particular”, dice el arquitecto de interiores y socio Daniel Hecksher. “Al principio, nos sentimos un poco abrumados, porque acostumbramos a crear arquitectura, productos o interiores que tienen un aspecto funcional subyacente y cuestiones estéticas que equilibrar».

Note Design Studio se encargó de diseñar la estación de metro de Sickla, y sus ideas se concretaron en torno al concepto literal y abstracto de la espera. La espera de un metro en concreto y la espera a la finalización de las obras de construcción de la línea interurbana. “La espera es un estado de ánimo poético”, dice Charlotte Ackemar, diseñadora de productos de Note: “Tenemos que esperar, pero si en lugar de permanecer pasivos, ocupamos ese tiempo de una forma activa, se convierte en otra cosa.”

La instalación principal de Waiting Windows está situada cerca del acceso al metro, junto al ayuntamiento de Nacka, en una pequeña rotonda arbolada. Una serie de grandes ventanas rectangulares de acero inoxidable en distintos tamaños dibuja una suave curva, recordando a muchas de las estaciones de metro de Estocolmo.

Durante el día, las superficies brillantes de esta instalación invitan a la gente a pasar e interactuar y reflejan el ambiente bucólico. Por la noche, la parte superior de las ventanas emite un suave resplandor desde el interior. Una única ventana, situada a una cierta distancia, apunta hacia la instalación principal.
